Orwell's Six Rules of Writing

1. Never use a common metaphor, simile, or saying.
2. Use short words when they convey the intended meaning.
3. Always remove unnecessary words.
4. Always use an active voice.
5. Never use Jargon or foreign phrases.
6. Break any of these rules if they force you to write an unpleasant sounding sentence.
